Good Week

So I realized I still had this blog, which I'm sure maybe only about two or three people EVER check so but anyway, this week we are taking a BIG family trip to Disneyland. It will be our second trip this year to the parks and I'm really looking forward to it. It should be a blast because all of Jennifer's family is going. I will, like last time, be blogging the trip so stay tuned.

I'm so torn right now

As a lot of you know I am a Mac "fanboy" if you will and since changing over to Mac back in Feb 08 my computing life has been so much easier, more fun, and productive..... however... they just released this statement on the Apple site that really bothers me.

"No on Prop 8

Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8."

Hannah scored her first ever goal in soccer on Saturday. Jennifer and I we're really upset that we couldn't be there to witness the goal because we were shooting a wedding. She loves being out there and I'm glad we get to catch the rest of the games this season!

Pumpkin Patch!

Tonight we headed out to Cobbs Ranch to get our pumpkins. We also had a shoot to do out there for one of our clients so why not get our own pics too right? We had a lot of fun and it's always enjoyable to see the kids get excited over dirt, vines, and pumpkins

Soccer

I actually had a chance to make it to Hannah's soccer practice and she was SOOO excited that Daddy brought his big camera! She is sooo good at soccer and loves being out on the field with the other kids. She can run like Forest Gump!

Mt. Whitney

Monday morning I embark on the trip of all trips. I am hiking up to the summit of Mt. Whitney next week and I am SOOO excited!! Mt. Whitney is the highest point in the intercontinental United States peaking at just above 14,500'. Aircraft are required to provide oxygen at 10,000'. It's been a very challenging task to get into shape for this tip but I "think" I am more then prepared at this time. I've lost 45 pounds to date and I am mentally and hopefully physically ready for the trip. Make sure to look for pics and a cool video when I get back!!!

On the Road Again...

What kind of blog subject is that? Well, I am "planning" on doing something really cool through the winter and on through next summer. The only person that knows is Jennifer. I will be adding subtle hits here and there until the full blown announcement. I guess I could give a hint right now: road.

None of my closest friends even know what I'm up to at this point so this is going to be fun.

I just learned that Lance Armstrong is coming out of retirement to race in the 2009 Tour De France!!! Lance is seriously one of my idols and when I heard this news I nearly peed o myself!!

First of all, I am so proud of Jennifer for making these bows. Our great friend, Gwen taught Jennifer how to make them and Jennifer is really excited abut her new "craft". My Mom owns a scrapbook/gift shop in Arkansas and Jennifer will be making and selling bows in her shop. Notice the blue bows? Thats Hannah's school colors! Go Ravens! :)

Clouds Rest; hike 2

With Mt. Whitney only 3 weeks away I thought I would steal my friend Gwen's camera and take off to do Clouds Rest again in Ysemite. My friend Jason also joined me and we had an absolute blast! He had a REALLY bad day though. He only had an hour and a half of sleep, got WAY car sick and then injured his knee. In the end though it only matters that he was able to finish it and still smile. I know the pics SUCK but they were from my Blackberry....sorry! Tonight we filmed a spin video for our spin instructor, Sunny at GB3. It was a lot of fun and I was really honored when i was asked to be a part of the video. I cant wait to see how much of a DORK I look like though on the vid!

What's you Bucket List?

Last night Jennifer and I rented the movie, The Bucket List and I must say I really enjoyed this movie. Talk about taking a look at your own life! This year has been one of the greatest years so far of my entire life. It all started with my current (and still going) weight loss to some of the hikes I've done to things I have planned later in the year. It's been amazing. The Bucket List just showed me and jennifer that this life is too short to just sit around the house and not do things. If you haven't seen the movie, I highly suggest it. Get out and HAVE FUN!

Kids Rooms

After a year of living in our new home, Jennifer and I have finally seemed to manage to find some time to finish up the kids rooms. Well, Jennifer did all the work! Hannah needed more space in her room so we got her a loft bed and it helped out greatly! Jennifer also did some cool lettering on both the kids walls.

Clouds Rest

Heres a very short picture video from a climb up to Clouds Rest in Yosemite that Jennifer's brother Matt and I just completed. I know the pictures are blah but the entire thing was shot from my blackberry. Sorry, but enjoy.

The "Lakes" Trail

My buddy Steve and a bunch of people from his church invited myself and my brother-in-law Matt out to do a training hike to prepare for our big hike to Mt. Whitney this year. I'll post pics here and explain the trip as we go... come on.

The Trail Head. Notice the arrow? That's our destination!

We've got 10.2 miles of hiking ahead of us.... so, lets go!

This is the right behind the sign above. This is where it allllll begins!

Matt being a goof. He wasn't all smiles for much longer

after this. He was wearing brand new boots that hadn't been

properly broken in... he was in some pain! :)

We're at the lower elevations here and Matt and I were just in awe

of the ground growth. So many ferns, flowers and other

ground covers. It was really cool but before long we'll be high above the timberline!

This is water crossing number 2 for us so far but we really enjoyed

this spot and took a moment for a picture.

Then about 2 minutes later I fell in the water...

not bad but I soon found out that my boots are as advertised...

WATER PROOF!!

Soon after Matt and I were just minding our own business

and this deer runs literally like 7 -8 feet past Matt!

We both kinda freaked out cause it was so out

of the blue and I was using my little point and shoot

so it was tuff to get a good pic.

See the red cloud? That's where we PARKED! We're really

gaining some elevation now...

Coming out of the timbers now!

Once we came out the tree line we came to this place called

"The "Watch Tower". Matt and I we're both AMAZED by

this place. It was beautiful and you could literally

walk out to the edge of these huge granite slabs.

It was a bit scary but soooo worth it.

Once we left the watch tower we were immediately

hiking along this super cool stretch of trail. It was my favorite part of the hike

for sure but it was also the most technical section too. We had to be

very careful through here as to not get too close to the edge

or it was...bye bye

There was also all these really cool trees along the hike.

I was noticing how they all had this cool twist to them but

I have no idea how they became like this.

Matt taking a break along the cool section... we're almost to

the first lake now!

We've arrived at the first lake, Heather Lake. By this point we are

pretty tired but we still have about a mile to go to get to

the second lake!

Fortunately is was a beautiful day and it stayed nice and cool

and didn't get too hot at all.

Another view of the higher mountains. This snow wont be

here in a few weeks for sure.

There's our destination. Just a short, very tuff, climb down now.

Now what do we do? I guess turn around and go home.

The hike on the way out seemed MUCH longer then what it took

us to get to Emerald Lake. Maybe because we talked a bunch on the way up

and on the way down we were all pretty tired.

It really was a perfect trip. There was a bear sighting but not by our party. I did get a gnarly blister on the back of my foot but nothing a little Neosporin and a band aid can't fix. Matt and I are going to attempt Half Dome next month so I can't wait for that one now.

Going Hiking

Tomorrow is my first of a few hiking trips I will be taking through the summer to better prepare for the increduble Mt. Whitney hike coming up in September. Wish me luck!!
